The Henley Community Hall Refurbishment
Update 19th January 2009 by Churchwarden Michael Longdon
The Refurbishment Project continues to gather pace. The meeting on the 9th of January was attended by Fr. George Butler, Marjorie Wass,
Michael Longdon, Kevin Gallagher, John Irons, Fr Allen Chappell and Peter Pearce (Contractor). Apologies were received from Andrew Spybey,
Phil Bishop and Malcolm Robertson.
This meeting was to decide how long the refurbishments would last and agree a Schedule of Work. It was agreed that the Hall would need to be
closed for a period of eight weeks, this will give time for both the Refurbishments and for cleaning afterwards. I am pleased to report, that John
Irons has accepted the position of Project Manager on behalf of The Henley Community Hall and St. Mark’s Church Mansfield.
WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental Ltd) our main Funder for the refurbishments have now registered our project with ENTRUST allowing full
authority for our project to commence. Our contractor P. Pearce of Grantham have been given full authority to contact WREN with regard to payments
and the raising of the contract.
At a subsequent meeting held on the 16th of January 2009 both John and myself met with the contractors to discuss our requirements, this was a
very productive meeting and we now have a basic understanding of how things will look after the Refurbishment and just where things will go. One
outcome of this meeting was that:
‘all the users of the Hall will have to remove all their belongings from the Hall prior to Friday the 6th of February 2009’.
It has been agreed with Fr. George that on Sunday the 26th of April the 9.30 am Holy Communion Service will start in The Henley Community Hall
with a Service of thanks for the Refurbishment. Invites will be sent to Civic Dignitaries and WREN to attend on this morning.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their continuing support of this project.
Yours in Christ,
Michael
